Why don't credits earned equal credits unposted?

Scrip Manager cumulatively calculates tuition credits and does not use a credit counter. The unposted amount is simply the user's total credit earned less total credit posted.

You might encounter a time when the unposted tuition credit does not equal the sum of credits earned for each order since the last credit posting. The most frequent reason is due to a change in an order prior to the last posting.

Example

  • June 1 — Order #1 entered with a credit earned of $20.
  • June 30 — Admin posts this credit to the user's account. Unposted amount is now $0.
  • July 1 — Order #2 entered with a credit earned of $10. Unposted amount is now $10.
  • July 5 — Admin modifies Order #1 and adds a gift card, increasing that order's tuition credit to $25. Unposted amount is now $15, because $5 of credit from Order #1 has not yet been posted.

The reverse also applies: if Order #1 had instead been reduced by $5, the unposted amount on July 5 would be $5, because the prior $20 posting on June 30 would now be a $5 over-post.

Remember, Scrip Manager cumulatively calculates tuition credits. Therefore, if you over- or under-post at a certain time, over the life of your program the credits will reconcile.
